Science and Eco Club

Science provides solutions to everyday problems and aids in the investigation of the universe's greatest mysteries. To put it another way, Science is one of the most important sources of knowledge. Being a member of a club or society allows an individual to gain this knowledge, acquire skills and experience in areas such as leadership, self-expression, independent research, constructive activities, communication, problem-solving, group development and management.

Science and Eco Club is one of the most popular clubs, with over 205 students from over Grade 5 to 12 and the students are also always upbeat and eager to participate in events and activities. The diverse topics and the opportunities give an immense scope of peer discussions and insightful learning.

The club collaborated with the World Wildlife Fund for Nature (WWF), which provided an opportunity for the club members to attend monthly quizzes and different sessions organized by WWF, such as the one on Demystifying Dragonfly and The Magical Mangroves.

The Science and Eco Club students also participated in the Wild Wisdom Global Challenge 2021 setting the goals high, which is evident from the fact that two of Science & Eco Club members, KARTHIKEYA VANKINENI (CBSE-GRADE -9A) and ASHRITH REDDY ALETI (CAIE -7B), represented the school in the WWF National Level Quiz Competition.

The club activities catered to the imaginative, creative, and logical aspects of learning with various activities related to Vanmahotsav, Plastic-free Environment, Bio Mimicry, Future Technologies, Fun with Chemistry, Remote Sensing Satellites, DNA Fingerprinting, E-waste Management, Renewable Resources and Recycling Projects.

Various campaigns were organized on occasions such as Tiger Day Festival, World Water Monitoring Day, National Herbal Medicine Week, World Ozone Day, National Nutrition Week, National Pollution Prevention Day, International Day of Biodiversity and Wildlife to enlighten the young minds and draw their attention to the need of the hour.

When it comes to Scientific research, every month the members learnt about achievements, inventions and many contributions made by different scientists of the world like the great works of Tesla, Marie Curie, and C.V. Raman, Stephen Hawkins, and Isaac Newton etc. Additionally, members of the Science Club have participated in several informative and meaningful virtual Sparks Speak sessions to learn about drones by Ameya Shukla Grade 10B (Member of Science & Eco Club), electric vehicles, and the use of physics in motor sports, Hornbill conservation, Battle for Tiger and wildlife photography.

Science and Eco Club has been under the strong guidance of Ms. Huma Syed and Ms. Swetha Sirineni, Ms. Sana Fatima, mentor for grade 5, Ms. Sameen Asema, mentor for grade 6, Ms. Hafeez Unnisa, mentor for grade 7, Ms. Swetha and Mr. Santhosh, mentors for grade 8, and Ms. Fauzia, mentor for grades 9-12.
